Beauty icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Kim Kardashian might come to mind when you think about this famous body shape, which typically involves a slim waist, wide hips and shoulders. But is it possible to get this hourglass body figure? I will provide you with some exercises to get a more hourglass looking body figure.

Let me start with: all pictures you see on social media are made with the best lightning and poses. I worked in the modeling industry as a model and every time I needed to shoot for a clothing brand, the clothes were tightened up at my back. They make it look perfect. We live in a world where young people think more of their own ‘’branding’’ than developing their brains. Please let it be a reminder that all pictures you see with the ‘’perfect body’’ are the best from the ones they made. It looks like all girls have a hourglass figure, but they don’t. They make it seem like it. And yes, there are some exceptional humans with an insane hourglass figure but that is a really, really really small amount of the world population.

Also, don’t fool yourself. There is a lot of plastic surgery going on. There are more butt implants than breast implants in the United States. Celebrities have pricey cosmetic procedures and use the best personal trainers, expensive shapewear, and a professional photo editor to create an illusion of an hourglass figure. Some governments are thinking of changing the age from 18 to 21 when talking about cosmetic procedures.

But…

You can get a more hourglass looking figure. You need to train hard for it. There are three target areas that you need to work on.

Tips to get a more hourglass looking figure

  1. Your upper body

Don’t be scared to get manly bulked shoulders. That will only happen if you take illegal testosterone or other related products. Try to work on your shoulders with exercises like for example shoulder press, lat pulldown, push ups etc. Also try to work on your back.

  1. Your waist

Research has shown that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) can be an effective tool to blast belly fat and burn a lot of calories. According to a 2017 study  planks have the ability to activate your inner core. This may help to slim your waist. I started using a waist trainer during my trainings too to get more sweat around my waist and I really love it. Maybe this also works for you.

  1. Your hips

Also for this area: don’t be afraid to gain weight and look manly! A really effective exercise is the hip abductor, but you can’t do only 1 exercise to grow your glutes. A last tip: for most girls fats store around the waist and butt. Try to eat clean but with a lot of protein and try to keep up with your daily calories. It is really important.
